Tony Tyesome for The Times Higher Education Supplement reports that amazon.com has established agreements with academic journal publishers worldwide to be able to re-sell their content. Academic papers can be found on amazon.com for as little as $5.95.

These agreements seem to be perfectly legal. However, the original authors were not aware of that practice and many of them don't think it is appropriate. Academics have traditionally been so keen to get published that they did not care too much about their authors' rights. It seem to be time for them to revisit the agreements with their publishers.
